The nature of Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, and the surrounding mountains. Shiga Prefecture is rich in nature, but there are places where you can enjoy brightly colored flowers even in the cold winter.

This is the field of rape blossoms at Daiichi Nagisa Park in Moriyama City. About 12,000 rape blossoms bloom here!

On sunny days, the contrast between the yellow flowers, the lake, and the blue sky is beautiful. Please note that the best time to see them is short, from late January to early February.

In winter when the sky is clear, the Hira mountains on the opposite shore can be seen beautifully. Photo: Eiichi Morita

By the way, this is the narrowest part of the vast Lake Biwa, and you can enjoy the dynamic scenery of the mountains and the lake on the opposite shore.

There is also the Lake Biwa Marriott Hotel near this park, so it would be nice to stay and spend a relaxing time.

Please enjoy the nature of Shiga.

If you take the train from Kyoto Station, there is a free shuttle bus from Katata Station on the Kosei Line to the shopping mall Pieri Moriyama.

This bus is convenient if you want to eat and shop at the mall. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the mall to the park while enjoying the view of the lake.
